“After His trip to Gayä, Çré Gaurahari returned to open His tol [school] in Navadvépa. His students were eager to renew their studies of Sanskrit, logic and philosophy. Nimäi Paëòita, however, could not continue instructing them. Because whenever He began teaching, a young boy with a dark complexion and exquisite beauty would appear before Him playing a flute. This sight of Lord Çré Kåñëa made Çré Gaurahari fall unconscious in a trance of divine love.

“Lord Caitanya's spiritual master blessed Him, telling Him to ‘dance, sing, propagate this saìkértana movement, and by instructing people about Kåñëa, try to deliver them from nescience.’ Lord Caitanya's spiritual master also taught Him the following verse from Çrémad Bhägavatam (11.2.40):

A note on how to kill a river:

A river is a natural watercourse flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a sea, or another river.

Killing it is a simple task.

1.    Take away its waters and hence its flow.
2.    Pollute it (contaminate its natural freshness).¬

Srila Prabhupada said, Krsna consciousness is a perfect paradigm, perfect world view. The Krsna conception is all embracing, all encompassing, it includes the happiness and welfare of dogs, human beings, squirrels, ants, whales, deer, trees and every living entity. The Krsna conscious person cares about their happiness, their welfare, their comfort, their peace of mind, isn’t it? Let everyone be happy visvam purna-sukhayate, let the whole universe be happy.

How can we improve our attitude or mentality towards seva? By hearing the qualities, compassion and the greatness of the Lord, we will get inspired to surrender to and serve such a Lord. Then we will get free from karma by practicing bhakti. If our hearts are pure and there are no sins then we will actually relish. That’s why we emphasize so much in the beginning to hear, read, read, read, hear, hear, more and more. Because how can you love someone you don’t know?
