Unfortunately most of us in Kali yuga, we don’t have the depth of realization or intelligence of such a great siddha Vaisnava as Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura. We are really very poor specimens and afflicted with so much ignorance and laziness.

Tattva Darsan 03 - 04

You are asking a question. You are saying, “Oh Maharaja, give me your mercy, give me your mercy.” But what is mercy? I’ll give you an analogy.

For example, if some very hungry person comes to see you and comes in your house and he says, “I am dying of hunger! I haven’t eaten for days. I am really starving, please! Feed me! Feed me. Please give me your mercy, give me your mercy.”

There is a very interesting discussion in the Brahmanda-purana about diksa. This is in Lalita-mahatmyam, Chapter 43.

The question is asked - do you need to be initiated to worship a Deity at home? What is the answer?

TD 12 - 21. Identity Crisis

The centre is God. All the spokes of the wheel are connected to the hub. Hub is the centre, the axle is the centre, the spokes radiate from the axle. They are connected there and they get their support there.

Chanting Krsna's name without cease or without end is always appropriate for everyone at every stage of development. So Mahaprabhu said, “This is the way to keep from becoming proud.”

Because part of being proud is you have to announce your glories. You have to speak something.
“Do you know what happened to me?”
